La OMC dijo en un comunicado que 13 de sus 151 miembros iniciaron 49 nuevas investigaciones antidumping en la primera mitad del año, una caída de 47 por ciento respecto de los 92 pedidos de investigación realizados un año atrás.
Un total de 16 miembros presentaron 57 nuevas medidas antidumping, representando una caída de 20 por ciento respecto de las 71 medidas registradas un año atrás.
Las reglas de la OMC permiten a los estados miembros establecer aranceles sobre las importaciones que están siendo vendidas en su mercado por debajo del costo de producción del país receptor.
Un país que considera que está siendo objeto de esas importaciones injustas primero debe investigar el caso antes de establecer medidas antidumping.
En el último caso registrado el lunes, los productores de acero europeos presentaron una queja por las importaciones baratas de ese producto que provienen de China, Taiwán y Corea del Sur, solicitando impuestos correctivos.
China fue el país que registró una mayor frecuencia de nuevas investigaciones, con 16 inicios durante la primera mitad de este año, inferior a los 31 de un año atrás. Taiwán, la Unión Europea y Corea del Sur se ubicaron en segundo lugar respecto de la frecuencia, con cuatro cada una.
India fue el iniciador más activo de nuevas investigaciones, seguido por Nueva Zelanda y Corea.
Los productos que con mayor frecuencia fueron objeto de nuevas investigaciones en la primera mitad del año 2007 fueron los químicos, con 24 iniciaciones, seguidos por la celulosa y el papel con 9, mientras que el plástico registró 6. Comentar esta Noticia...
